The month of August brought about major change. After several jubilant years, we left a shared home filled with beloved friends to build a new one for the two of us. During this bittersweet transition, we have sought to bless each space with a celebratory dance. Part home video, part improvisational frenzy, and part choreographed flight of fancy, our film is a catalog of this moment in time.
The title, “It’s lucky to hear the flutes for dancing coming down the road” comes from a translation of a poem by Rumi, who believed in the use of music, poetry, and dance as a path to reach God. “Flutes for Dancing” as well as Rumi’s “The Waterwheel” inspired us with their language of exultation through communing. Change is hard, and the process of finding our new home was arduous; these poems helped to remind us to live in the spirit of love.
With that, we offer this film made for each other and our homes.
